During the Covid-19 pandemic, “Ube Pandesal” or (Purple Yam Bread) became the most significant trend in the Philippines. The recipe of Ube Pandesal is similar to the traditional pandesal farmacie-romania.com. The only added ingredients are the Ube extract, ube powder, or ube jam.

    Why this bread become trendy?

Ube or Purple Yam is a famous dessert all Filipinos know how to make during special occasions like Fiestas, Birthdays, and other significant events like Christmas and New Year. The only downside about this famous Filipino food is the preparation and the cooking process. This dessert needs to stir none stop until it gets the right thickness and consistency.

Also, to give you an idea of what pandesal is. It is a bread usually eaten during breakfast partnered with hot coffee. I remember when I was little, my grandma will wake us up at 5:00 am to go and walk in the bakery to buy a freshly baked pandesal. Why 5:00 am? We believe that bread is good right around this time when they just removed it from the masonry oven (brick oven) or what we call “pugon” and you have the privilege of picking the biggest and softest ones.

That is my conclusion on why this bread become the most trendy. It is like getting the two most Filipino favorite food in one.

Nothing can really beat a freshly baked bread.
